Scarlett's steps were quick as she headed towards the palace.
When I opened the door with the help of a plate, thick tobacco smoke came out, and I coughed.
Victor, who was contemplating a map, looked at her and asked in a calm tone: “Do you love me?”
“I'm sane now”
“unfortunate”
Scarlett sighed: “Can't you be sure otherwise?”
“Why?
This method works.”
Whenever he asked her if she loved him, her heart would skip a beat, afraid that she would subconsciously say “yes.”
She took a deep breath and said, “To make a plane, I need to study more professionally.
So… I want you to help me enroll in Salantir Engineering College.”
“A recommendation or something like that...”
Victor looked at her carefully.
“You said you would help me,” Scarlett added embarrassed.
“Of course I will.”
Victor thought for a moment, then said: “I will get a teacher to teach you privately, isn’t that better?”
“How are you going to get a professor?”
“Order someone to go to your house.”
Scarlett paused at his confident response, wondering what kind of man she lived with.
She shook her head instead of responding.
Victor put out his cigarette, wrote something on a letter paper, then got up and handed her the paper: “I have arranged it in advance, take this.
Next time, tell me before coming.”
“Why?”
“Don't you hate the smell of tobacco?”
“Well...yes”
Victor opened the door, gently pushed her back, then closed it.
Scarlett fiddled with the letter in wonder.
As she was preparing to leave, Balin ran towards her: “I will accompany you.”
“But this might be annoying for you...”
“No disturbance.”
Balin smiled reassuringly.
Scarlett boarded the tram, wondering if the message was enough, heading to the College of Engineering.
Salantir University was located within the palace, but the Faculty of Engineering was outside the capital.
After two hours on the tram, I got off at College Station, and looked at the building: “Is this it?”
It was an old building that raised suspicions.
Palin frowned: “It looks like a small village school.”
Scarlett entered the doorway, holding the letter.
The south in Salantir was arable, so nobles bought extensive lands, but the north was barren.
If it weren't for Palin, Scarlett's boots would have been filled with snow.
Balin opened the college's frosted door.
A student who was opening the door from inside was surprised and looked at Palin: “You have good genes.”
“What?”
“Leave many children.
The elite few save the many, and even exploit them.
Do you like exploitation?”
"no."
“Then, you can leave sons.
See you later.”
The student nodded and walked away, then turned to Scarlett: “You have good genes too, but I’m not good at talking to women, so I’ll stop gossiping.”
And he went on his way.
Scarlett and Palin paused in shock, then headed to the president's office with the letter.
When I opened an old door, a female student wearing big glasses came out.
“Hello”
“Hello,” Scarlett smiled, thinking she might study with her.
“Why did you come?”
“For admission...I have a letter of recommendation.”
“What are you going to study?”
“Engineering”
The student shouted: “We found an engineer!”
Two students ran in, handed Scarlett a jar of jam and documents, and said, “We completed the theories.
Now, the engineer has to implement them.”
“And open the jar, please.”
They gave her the jar, and Scarlett grabbed it in confusion.
Balin snatched it and opened it easily, making the three of them look embarrassed.
One of them said: “We did not expect this variable.”
“How do we expect the alpha male to show up here?”
“But we put finding an engineer in the plan.”
“We are in an engineering college, so an engineer is more likely than an alpha male.”
Palin whispered to Scarlett: “Shall we go?
They look strange.”
Scarlett showed the documents: “Palin, you have a higher education, right?
Do you understand this?”
“Not at all.
Philosophy was the most important science for us.”
The students sneered: “Huh, philosophy?”
“It has no use in real life.”
“But I opened the jar.”
“Let's go, miss.”
Under Palin's protection, Scarlett nodded and headed to the president's office.
She smiled and said, “Nice to meet you.”
A middle-aged woman responded with a pained expression: “An ordinary greeting like this is rare.”
She approached and extended her hand: “Elisa Palmer.”
“Scarlet Crimson.”
Scarlett handed her the letter.
Eliza read it and said, "I received advance notice.
But you see, I'm not a teacher.
This is a place for research, and the teachers... well, they're all dead."
Scarlett smiled despite Eliza's scrutinizing gaze.
Eliza was honorable, and she made no secret of it, warning frankly: “You know, the state does not want the Faculty of Engineering to make great discoveries.”
“Okay.”
“I don't think we're going to produce anything great here.
So, we're just working on an impromptu basis.
Let's have coffee together later.”
"Good."
“By the way, you didn't need a letter of recommendation.”
Scarlett looked at her.
Eliza added: “As the daughter of the Crimson Family, you can enter this place by simply opening the door.
There is a vacant laboratory, use it.
Do whatever you want.”
The admission procedures to the College of Engineering ended with filling out some papers.
Number of students: 26, including Scarlett, and four professors.
Scarlett wondered if it was so easy by nature, or because of Victor's influence.
After completing the formalities, she left the professor's office, checking the map of the sanctuary that Eliza had given her.
The student who failed to open the jar approached and tried to grab Scarlett's arm, but Palin stopped her.
The student was surprised, and Balin smiled reassuringly: “Don’t touch Miss.
She’s precious.”
Scarlett wanted to protest that Balin was not helping her cope, but she couldn't say that to him after accompanying him.
The student released her hand and said: “I am Kirsten...”
“I'm Scarlett.”
“From the Rocher family.”
“I'm from the Crimson family.”
“So, you are the daughter of Count Crimson and his wife?”
"Yes."
Kirsten shouted: “Look!
It's Count Crimson's daughter!”
Everyone gathered.
The student who was talking about genes asked: “Are you really from the Crimson family?”
“I told you it looks like them!”
“Oh my God, someone from a true noble family!”
Balin stood preventing them from touching Scarlett, looking at them disapprovingly.
Scarlett whispered: “Balin, I will need to get along with them, so don’t be harsh.”
“Do you really want to live with them?”
"Yes."
Balin started grumbling but nodded, "Okay, but I'm not leaving.
If you get even a scratch, the Commander will kill me."
A student asked: “Which leader?”
“Our captain, the captain of the Rubid ship, Sir Victor Domfelt, her ex-husband.”
The students muttered: “A Crimson with a Doomfelt leader?”
“Well, it's a marriage between two equal families.”
“True.
Doomfelt is not as prestigious as Crimson, but the leader of the alpha male must have good genes...”
Viktor Safa, the Alpha Commander 😂
To them, the Crimson Family was legendary, the family of great inventors.
Scarlett felt a strange and touching feeling towards them.
