Their lips touched only for a moment, and Shane immediately pulled away, but almost immediately returned to her, catching her breath and absorbing it. Adaline bit her lip and tried to look away, but to no avail. Shane grabbed her chin, forcing her to turn to face him, and bit her lower lip painfully.

"Mm...mm..."

"Open your mouth, Adaline."

"Um..."

She resisted, and he continued to shower her face with short kisses: the corners of her lips, her chin, her cheeks, her eyelids... and finally he grinned, curving his lips crookedly:

"Stubborn."

Adaline was almost ready to hit him with her teeth on those overly beautiful lips, but, as if predicting her intention, he lowered his hand from her chin to her neck and pressed firmly between her neck and jaw.

"Oh!"

She involuntarily opened her mouth, and his tongue rushed inside, deep, insistent. The kiss instantly became greedy and intense. Adaline tried to push him away, pushing against his chest, but he remained unmoved.

[To be honest, Shane was a kisser...too good.]

[Or at least it seemed that way. Adaline did not have enough experience to judge objectively, but the dizziness and trembling in her fingers spoke for themselves.]

His lips pressed evenly, rhythmically, and his tongue explored her, making her lose her breath. When it seemed like she couldn't stand it any longer, he would let her go just for a moment, allowing her to breathe, and then immediately cover her mouth again. Sometimes she arched under him involuntarily.

Finally, as if irritated by her resistance, Shane grabbed her wrists and pinned them above her head, only then moving away from her lips.

[Where does this bastard know how to kiss like that?!]

Adaline was breathing heavily, glaring at him. Shane looked at her, also catching his breath, and then chuckled:

“I didn’t study anywhere.”

[Does he read minds?]

“You look at me like I'm a libertine. But it was my first kiss."

"You're lying."

"Honestly. But I imagined him... countless times."

Adaline was silent, stunned. [How can you be so...natural?]

Shane leaned closer and slowly, deliberately licked a drop of saliva from the corner of her lips.

"I can't even think about touching anyone other than you."

"No, Shane, wait..."

This time Adaline really tensed up. She understood that if she didn't stop him now, things could go too far.

[She will not defeat him by force. What about tears and prayers? Doubtful.]

And then Adaline suddenly realized how naive she had been.

[If Shane had wanted to, this story could easily have become a dirty, dark, semi-pornographic drama. Her wishes would have no role here.]

[Lord, what poor control of the situation I had...]

[She could no longer justify herself.]

[And they are married. According to the laws of this world, she has no right to refuse marital duties.]

Tense, like a string, Adaline looked at Shane with a clear threat in her gaze, one more step and she would bite him.

But he suddenly let go of her hands and, rolling over, lay down next to her without touching.

"What?"

“Why did you expect me to attack?”

"No! No, no, not like that at all!”

“One word is enough to understand everything. I didn’t entertain myself with the illusion that you wanted this.”

"That's...not entirely true."

Adalyn stood up carefully. Shane lay with his eyes closed, his hand under his head.

“Are you...not angry anymore?”

With these words, he finally opened his eyes. Constricted, attentive, piercing.

She said this to offend him. [To cut everything off completely, to push him away, to wrest the anger out of him.]

[She deliberately chose the most hurtful words.]

[And until recently, it seemed like Shane was really starting to lose his temper. But now he looked surprisingly calm, almost relaxed.]

He answered, still looking straight into her:

“And if I got angry...what then?”

“Well...would we quarrel?”

"How? By assault?

"..."

“Or in words? It won't lead to anything good."

He chuckled.

“It’s good that I stopped before I did something irreversible. Agree?"

His gaze slid lower - to her neck, to her chest, and then rose again. The meaning in his words became clear, and Adaline blushed deeply.

She tried to crawl out of bed, but Shane quickly grabbed her around the waist. She lost her balance and buried her face in his strong chest.

"A! Hey!"

“Don't moan. My patience is running out."

"What?! Then let go!”

“I can’t. Why do you think I even held back?”

“Hold back...what?”

“You really don’t understand what exactly I’ve been holding back, Adaline?”

She froze. [Lying now would be dangerous.]

[If she pretends not to understand and he decides to show...]

[This will be a problem.]
