After a luxurious and warm breakfast, Scarlett went out and saw the snow piled up.
She sat on the lounge sofa on the first floor, where Andrei was waiting for her, and said, “The snow has accumulated a lot.”
“Indeed”
“It's beautiful”
“There were spies,” Scarlett murmured as she looked at Domfelt Palace, then said.
“What?”
“As a spy, what do you think?”
I looked at him, Andrei coughed and said: “This means that Mr.
Victor’s status is great.”
"It's going to be hard.
He can never rest."
“Well, he'll have to put up with it.”
Andrei replied calmly.
While they were talking on the first floor, Victor came out to see them off.
Scarlett saw him and was surprised.
He was elegantly dressed like a stage actor, instead of his usual military uniform.
She stared at him, mesmerized by his face, which she loved, and which looked even more attractive in this outfit.
It felt like the world stopped.
Victor looked at her, then asked to shake Andrei’s hand: “Get her safely.
That’s why I kept you alive.”
“Okay, sir”
Andrei shook his hand, and when Victor let go of his hand, Andrei looked at his hand admiringly.
After leaving the palace, as they moved away from the balcony, Andrei said, “His strength is amazing.
They say he would have become a leader even if half of his blood wasn’t royal.”
“Really?”
Scarlett looked unsure: “Maybe, but you and my brother Isaac are also strong.”
“You have no normal standard of comparison.”
“And Isaac?”
“I'm strong enough to become a royal policeman from a humble family, and from my investigations, Issac is close to my level.”
“Your investigations?”
“If I don't do this, why would I be a spy?”
Scarlett laughed, embarrassed that she had become accustomed to this unnatural reality: “So, Issac is very strong?”
“Yes, and technically skilled too.”
“Where did you learn that?”
“Maybe he acquired it himf.”
“I'm worried, but you're so calm, Andrey.”
She is worried about Isak, whom she sees as naive.
She frowned when Andrei didn't take her seriously.
“Think rationally, ma'am.
Count Issac Crimson is an exceptionally tall and strong man.
He is the one who should be worried.”
“I'm afraid it will cause trouble.”
"What?
You're the one causing the most trouble!"
“Shut up”
“Who started?”
They argued as they boarded the carriage provided by Victor, and descended the hill of the Domfelt grounds.
When they arrived at Seventh Street, they were surprised.
The stores were completely empty, from bakery to grocery.
Scarlett asked: “What happened?”
“I don't know, I was with you.”
The two returned home, where Isaac was waiting for them: “Scarlett.”
"What's going on?
Why all this chaos?"
“A flying vehicle has been discovered in the north,” Isaac responded nervously.
“What?”
“She carried the Festina flag.”
Scarlett's eyes widened in shock.
No one dared to cross the harsh Salian Mountains to enter Salantir.
The southern coasts, protected by Victor, were the only easy entrance.
But this morning, Festina demonstrated her ability to cross mountains without permission.
The plane causes panic, and Scarlett realizes that the streets are empty due to stockpiling.
Andrei opened the door to the store, and entered with Isaac.
Suddenly, Scarlett ran upstairs.
“Scarlett?”
“Madam, you are not a child to run!”
The two men followed her, and saw her holding a notebook.
Isaac asked: “What are you doing?”
“We should make a flying vehicle.”
“What?”
Scarlett tied her hair with a rope and said, “If we show that Salantir can launch a plane, Festina will not dare to attack.
Our navy is strong.
If a war starts, Victor will attack Festina from the south, which will cause them losses.
They will not start a war easily, and if they do, they will target the Rubid ship first.
We must show that we have anti-aircraft weapons.”
She quickly continued: “There are many spies in Salantir.
If they knew that we had this technology, Festina would not declare war.”
“And what are you going to do?”
Isaac asked worriedly.
“We can't be late,” Scarlett replied, gathering her notebook.
“I'm going to the engineering school in Salantair now.”
“What?”
“to ask for help”
Isaac shook his head: “To engineering school?”
“I know a lot of what my parents left behind.
I have to do this.”
“In a country that does not allow tram repair, you want to make an airplane engine?”
Isaac's voice dropped, and Scarlett felt a strange coldness.
But he quickly smiled with his angelic face: “If anyone knew, it would be dangerous.”
“I know, but I can't stand doing nothing.”
“You can, Scarlett.”
“I don’t understand why you would put yourf in danger,” Isaac said gently.
Andrei stood at the door, with a tired expression, and said: “The Count is right, madam.
Going to engineering school suddenly?
This is dangerous.”
Issac gestured to him: “Thanks, Andrei.”
Andrei nodded and said, “But my lady is right too.
War?
I can’t live without water pipes.
If there is a way to prevent it, we should do it.”
Isak looked at him with a cold look, and Andrei laughed, thinking that Scarlett attracted crazy people like a magnet.
“Seek protection from Master Victor,” Andrei said.
“There is no safer way in Salantir.”
“Protection?”
Isaac asked, tilting his head.
Andrei added: “Rather, clean up.
If someone is going to report you trying to build an engine, ask them to deal with them.”
“Ah”
Isaac nodded, then sighed and looked at Scarlett: “Do you really want to do something so dangerous?”
"I don't want to, but I have to.
I have no choice."
The two men laughed.
“Scarlett,” Isaac said, “do you remember when I hit you?”
Andrey frowned.
Scarlett replied: “Because my uncle told you to.”
“Exactly.
I chose the bad side then.
You don’t see the bad side, but you always have a choice.”
Scarlett sighed, and looked at Andrei asking for his support: “Andrei, stay by my side.”
Andrei shrugged: “Sorry, I’m a spy.
I’m the same bad road.”
“Really...”
“Sorry I'm not perfect”
Isaac frowned: “Spy?”
“Old story,” Scarlett interjected.
“Can he be trusted?”
“Of course.
He kept the tram repair secret.”
“Really?”
Isaac did not look convinced: “He is your only employee, right?”
“Anyway”
Scarlett laughed to calm him down, and Isaac smiled reluctantly: “Okay, I’ll trust him.”
But his eyes were not sure.
Andrei realizes that Scarlett still sees Isak as a child who needs her protection.
Andrei thought: who is protecting whom?
And he shook his head.
