Nicholas felt cold sweat pouring out of him as he quickly placed the ice cream on the table: “Here it is, this is a new type, try it.”
“Mr.
Nicholas, if you keep giving us more, I will feel embarrassed and won’t come back.”
“How sad?
You repaired my prosthetic arm, and I owe the captain as well.”
Nicholas deliberately mentioned Victor in front of Liv to warn her, despite their friendship.
But Liv, who was curious, asked excitedly: “You were on board the Rubid, sir?”
"Of course, my hands were injured back there, customer.
I was not just a member, but an officer.
I was the only non-noble among them.
I'm a real talent!"
Nicholas laughed proudly.
“So, did you see the leader?” Lev asked with shining eyes.
“Yes, well... but Miss saw him more.”
Nicholas looked at Scarlett, and Liv grumbled: “Scarlett isn’t telling anything about that.”
Scarlett responded angrily: “Do you want me to talk about my ex-husband?”
"Why not?
Elizabeth, the owner of Snowball's, curses her ex-husband daily."
"Her husband deserved it.
He had two homes!
I'm different.
I got divorced because I insulted my ex-husband, so how can I insult him?"
Scarlett spoke firmly because she did not want to discuss Victor, so Liv stepped back: “Okay, right.”
Whenever Victor was mentioned, Scarlett felt a burn.
She took a tablespoon of the new ice cream and put it in her mouth, then looked at Nicholas in amazement: “Oh my God, this is so delicious!
What is this?”
Nicholas replied proudly: “I added a little salt.
Uncle Marine salt ice cream!”
“Liv, try it quickly.”
Liv took a spoon and her eyes widened: “Wow, this is going to l great!”
“Really?
This makes me feel shy, but I'm happy.”
Nicholas laughed happily at the two customers' compliments.
Liv returned to the bakery, regretting not completing the chat.
Scarlett bought different types of ice cream, and put it in a picnic basket, with bread from Liv's Store, until the lid no longer closed.
As she pedaled, an ice-cold wind blew, making her cheeks and nose red when she reached the lake where Isaac worked.
Isak was waiting for her in a tent in front of the boat dock, where the raft owner, who profited from Isak's profits, had prepared a tent with a table and a heater to keep her warm.
Scarlett saw Isaac reading a book with a magnifying glass close to his eyes, so she asked in surprise: “Isak, can you read?”
Isaac smiled: “Yes, but slowly, because I only see one letter at a time...”
“And yet!”
Scarlett sat next to him excitedly, examined his eyes and asked: “How are your eyes?
Do they hurt?”
“No pain at all.
They seem really improving.”
Isaac smiled, and Scarlett was happy and took out the ice cream: “I thought ice cream in the winter was inappropriate, but it is warm here.”
“It looks delicious”
“Try this, they added salt to it.”
“Salt in ice cream?”
Isaac took a spoonful in amazement, and he liked it very much.
Scarlett's smile did not stop as she saw him eating happily.
It was a rare peace.
While they were eating ice cream and talking, a noise was heard from outside the tent.
“What's wrong?”
Scarlett muttered and got up.
But before her, the tent door opened.
It was Arnold Crimson and his group.
“Uh, Arnold?”
At Scarlett's trembling voice, Isaac fumbled for his tinted glasses, but Arnold, who was limping, approached, dropped the glasses to the floor and stomped on them.
He didn't know that Isaac could see partially, so he sneered at him as he saw his worm-covered eyes: “Scarlett, your stomach is strong.
How can you eat ice cream in front of this?”
“It doesn't bother me”
Arnold scoffed at Scarlett's forceful response: "It doesn't bother you?
Then why did Isaac try to hide this from you?
You made him suffer a lot, didn't you, Isaac?"
Isaac rose to silence him, but stopped when he heard a scream from outside the tent: “Look into that man’s eyes!”
The sound of someone falling was heard.
Isaac quickly covered his eyes with his hands.
Arnold laughed and said to Scarlett: “Scarlett Crimson, my father will file a lawsuit against you with lawyers and family members.”
“Lawsuit?”
“Did you think we would ignore your spreading malicious rumours?”
Arnold added ecstatically: “You're not the only one concerned.
The elders of the family are considering taking away Isaac's title.”
"Don't threaten like that.
Issac's title cannot be taken away."
"If the king, the nobles, and Parliament agree, then it's a different matter.
Haven't you tarnished the Crimson family's name more than anyone in its history?"
"It's no shame.
I'm right.
My uncle's way is wrong!"
“The Crimson family says you are wrong.
How are you going to defend yourf, a girl who has not received a proper education?”
Scarlett blinked.
Arnold grabbed her chin and said, “We will first expel you from the Crimson Family, and then demand compensation for spreading rumors.
You are the one who is ruining everything, okay?”
Worry spread in Scarlett's eyes, and Arnold added even more ecstatically: “Go to the Domfelt family to get the money.
It's nothing to them.
It seems that Victor Domfelt still wants something from you.
It's clear what he wants.”
Arnold shook her face.
“Do you have anything else other than this?”
“Stop”
The trembling Scarlett pushed him with difficulty.
Arnold retreated, perhaps fearing Victor Domfelt, and did not hit her as usual.
“We will meet soon, in court.”
Arnold left with his group, satisfied that the brothers had collapsed.
But before they could regain their composure, an argument was heard from outside between Carrell, the raft keeper, and Patterson, the authorized owner of the dock.
"Only some of the customers were surprised," Carrell told Patterson.
"You know how much money the gentleman made!"
"That was before we knew about this hideous disease!
Go and kick him out now!"
"my lord!"
"Why are you defending him?
Do you want to get fired too?"
Karel sighed painfully.
After a while, Karel entered the tent with a face full of guilt: “Sir...”
“I'll be leaving soon, Karel,” Isak replied, still covering his eyes.
“Give me some time.”
“Of course!
And I will find you another job anyway.”
Isak smiled narrowly instead of responding, and Karel added sadly: “I mean it, sir.”
“I owe you so much”
Karel, who had bonded with Issac, hesitated, then left.
After he left, Isaac felt his way towards Scarlett.
She quickly approached him and said anxiously: “Are you okay?
Sorry, I didn’t know...”
Isaac carefully grabbed her arm and pulled her towards him: “Scarlett, you were the one who was surprised.”
“What?”
“I'm the one who should ask if you're okay.”
"Scarlett," he added softly, "I'll see more and more clearly.
Don't treat me like a child.
And you're right, as always.
Why do you blame yourf?"
Scarlett laughed in her usual way and nodded: “Yes, right.
Why should I blame myf?”
“Let's go home”
Isaac spoke gently and covered his eyes again.
The brothers were blaming each other inwardly, but outwardly they exchanged skillful smiles.
