# Chapter 45
Chapter 45
One knee on the ground, holding Bunny’s tiny, delicate hand and crying profusely, the red-headed man looked up.
Bunny’s eyes narrowed to thin slits, resembling a flounder.
‘You said the Duke's family was safe, you silly dad.’
Less than a day later, as she stared at the clearly visible demon in front of her, Bunny's trust in Kiriel dropped slightly.
“Dad, this one’s cute.”
“I thought you needed a bodyguard since you’re always out and about.
His personality might be like that, but his skills are good.
He’s worked at the Duke’s family for quite a while.”
Bunny, who had never seen this man at the Duke's household before, was a bit confused.
“Why?
You don’t like him?
I’ll switch him out for another.”
“No!
I’ll be Bunny’s bodyguard!
Right?
You like me, don’t you?
You don’t dislike me, right?”
Baryan, leaning in too closely with a somewhat overbearing smile, made Bunny retreat slightly.
She grabbed Kiriel’s pant leg and stood next to him, finally speaking up.
“Good.”
Does Dad not know this is a bad demon?
‘The culprit of Chef Hollyholly’s crime.’
Blinking a couple of times, Bunny stared seriously at both men.
She nodded and pointed at Kiriel with her finger.
“Dad, is this one Bunny’s?”
“Yeah, he’s yours.
He’s your subordinate.”
At Kiriel’s words, Bunny’s eyes sparkled, and she nodded enthusiastically.
“Mine!
Then does that mean Bunny’s marrying him?”
“Cough, cough.”
At Bunny's sudden words, pointing at Baryan, Kiriel coughed.
“Hmm?”
Baryan, who had looked puzzled for a moment, suddenly brightened.
“Of course!
If you want to marry me, I’m more than happy…!”
Kiriel’s sharp, menacing gaze fell on Baryan.
In reality, demons didn’t care much about age, so Baryan’s statement wasn’t that strange.
But Kiriel was unaware of that.
Baryan, perhaps realizing his mistake, put one hand on his chest, bowed politely, and continued.
“—But I must say, I, Baryan, have vowed my life to one person for all eternity...
So, I’m afraid it will be impossible to spend a lifetime with our dear young lady.”
Tap, tap.
Kiriel’s eyes narrowed at Baryan’s exaggerated display of wiping his eyes with a handkerchief.
“Should I switch him out, Bunny?”
“Ah, you’re too much, Sir.
I’ll protect Bunny with my life!”
Kiriel glanced briefly at Baryan, then turned to Bunny and spoke.
“By the way, Bunny, how about we move soon?”
“Move?”
“Yeah.
I thought it might be better if the three of us lived in the manor.
Your room looks cramped...
I mean, we’re family, after all.”
Kiriel, rubbing his neck awkwardly, spoke casually, but Bunny’s head tilted to the side.
“Family?”
Bunny blinked at Kiriel’s words.
“Bunny and Dad are family?
But that’s not right.”
To Bunny, family meant having her mom, dad, and little brother all together.
‘But Bunny only has Dad and her brother, not Mom.’
Family, she had been told, was about people who share everything and live together, with no secrets between them.
‘But Bunny’s family is full of secrets...’
Bunny, thinking hard, opened her mouth.
“Family is Mom, Dad, and little brother together.
But Bunny only has Dad.”
“...”
And Dad hated demons so much, he wanted to kill them all.
Bunny was going to become the Great Demon King, so she couldn’t possibly be family with someone in white clothes.
But she didn’t say that part aloud.
Because, according to Bunny’s standards, without her mom, family couldn’t exist.
“Bunny and Dad aren’t family.”
“...”
Boom!
Suddenly, a huge flash of lightning fell from above Kiriel’s head.
Baryan was laughing behind them.
***
“Revon.”
“Yes?”
“What do you think about me going on a matchmaking date?”
“...”
Revon abruptly stopped in his tracks at Kiriel’s sudden question.
Kiriel narrowed his eyes, glancing sideways at him, while Revon, expressionless, placed his hand on the hilt of his sword.
“Who are you?
Go away, evil spirit.
Sir Kiriel would never say something like that.”
“Do you really want to die?”
“Ah, I see.
My apologies.”
Revon, his hand pulling away from the sword hilt, took out a round orb and began to channel holy power into it.
“Why are you pulling out a communication orb?”
“I’m calling the doctor.
By the way, how many fingers do you think this is?
If you’re feeling hot, cold, dizzy...”
Shriek!
The sound of wind tearing through the air made Revon hurriedly retract his fingers and twist his body.
Crack!
A sharp fountain pen pierced the marble wall, and Revon stepped back nonchalantly.
“Oops.
Perfect.”
Clap, clap, clap.
Kiriel clapped and then disdainfully glanced at Revon, who was politely returning the fountain pen.
“By the way, why suddenly think about a matchmaking date?”
“Bunny...”
“Yes?”
“She says you’re not family if you don’t have a mom.”
“...”
Revon blinked, then put the communication orb back into his pocket, speaking up.
“I think I’ll clock out early today.”
“Where did that come from?”
“I’ve decided to stop seeing my boss’s unpleasant face and look for a woman who will give me a warm, happy life and make a cute daughter into a family member.”
Kiriel sighed briefly, then turned away.
It was always a hassle when Revon started spouting nonsense.
Revon, with his hands behind his back, kicked the ground lightly twice before quickly catching up to Kiriel.
“I think it’s a good idea.”
“...”
“You’ve always been alone.
It would be nice if someone were there by your side, someone who believes in you and supports you.
And if there’s love, even better.”
But, in noble families, matchmaking usually involved exchanging benefits.
It was rare for people to marry for love.
“Still, don’t do it out of a sense of duty for Bunny.
It would be disrespectful to the woman, to Bunny, to Sir Allen, and even to you.”
“Revon, you’re surprisingly useful with your advice.”
“Of course, a man with two children, lazy and always staying in his room, with nothing to offer but his face and body...
I’m not sure how many women will have the patience to accept him.”
“Just go die.”
Kiriel muttered lazily, irritated by Revon’s last comment, and spun around.
Revon, with a faint smile on his face, followed him.
***
“Oh, so this is where you live, Bunny.
Should I come here every morning to report for duty?”
Bunny, who had just hopped onto her bed and was about to settle in, raised an eyebrow at the sudden voice.
There had been no one in the room just moments ago, but now Baryan had appeared out of nowhere.
Bunny, pulling the red sparrow from her bag and placing it on the pillow, glanced up.
“What’s this?”
Blinking slowly, Bunny stared at Baryan and asked.
With a sly grin, Baryan’s lips curled slightly.
Although he didn’t have black hair or red eyes, Bunny could tell.
This man was a demon.
And he probably knew Bunny’s secret, too.
