# Chapter 43
“Bunny, are you sure you want to go through with this marriage?”
“Uung.”
With a bright smile, Roel picked Bunny up and quickly hugged her.
Though, considering the fact that a 9-year-old was hugging a 4-year-old, it looked a bit awkward.
“Uung.
Bunny is a person who keeps her word and is very...”
Bunny swallowed.
“…human.
The boss is mine.”
Having lied about being human, Bunny rubbed under her nose with her hand.
“Yeah, Bunny.
And I’m Roel.
From now on, you should call me Roel.”
“Noel.”
“No.
Ro.
El.”
“Uung.
No.
El.”
“Hmm, not used to the pronunciation?
You'll get the hang of it soon.”
The demonic language she'd heard before had been quite distinct.
‘As expected, Bunny must be a demon, right?’
Her speech was strangely clumsy, her grammar off, and her word order was all mixed up.
And most notably, the peculiar words she’d heard before.
However, what was strange was that Bunny didn’t seem to have any of the typical traits of a demon.
There was something else that bothered him.
If she had summoned a divine beast, that meant she must possess divine power, but how could that be?
Black hair, red eyes.
All demons have that ominous color in their features.
Moreover, they are inherently vulnerable to divine power.
Yet, Bunny was living in the Duke of Udia’s estate, which was surrounded by divine power’s barrier, meaning that divine power had no effect on her.
‘It doesn’t matter.’
After all, he had already decided to belong to Bunny.
He had wished for it dozens, hundreds, thousands of times.
If someone could liberate him from that hellish pain, he’d do anything.
The day Bunny had appeared was like salvation to him.
Whether she was a demon or not didn’t matter.
What mattered was that Bunny had saved him.
He had been saved.
He didn’t even know where he was—some cold, eerie, endless abyss—just aimlessly wandering and stumbling, unaware of the pain in his legs.
Even when he slept, it had felt like hell, and when he woke, reality felt like another kind of hell.
Cursed and stripped of the golden blonde hair and golden eyes that symbolized the royal family, people avoided him, shunned him, and looked at him with cold eyes.
He knew.
Everyone thought he had only a short time to live.
He knew.
The Emperor, his father, had already brought in a cousin to replace him in the imperial palace.
His father was the Emperor.
An Emperor who could not only be a parent to one person.
He knew it was the right decision.
But still… it felt like they were treating him as already dead, even though he wasn’t.
He knew.
He knew it all.
Roel, too, had been living waiting for death.
But when the small hand, warm and comforting, touched him, all the pain he had endured seemed to disappear, as if it had been a dream.
Or rather, it felt like he was being sucked into somewhere.
At the very end of that hellish abyss, Roel saw her.
A woman standing elegantly in the center of the abyss, a figure shining clearly in the dark, carrying with her an air of loneliness, despair, and the coldness of hell.
Black hair.
Twisted horns, dark red, arching over her head.
Massive wings unfurled behind her.
And sparkling, deep pink eyes.
Could this be the shape of the Demon King, the one he’d only heard about in rumors?
In the darkness, that beauty was the only thing shining, and Roel couldn’t help but be captivated by her gaze.
‘Who is she?’
Just as he thought that, the woman’s eyes met his.
She reached out a hand, and Roel felt the ground beneath him open up, sending him plummeting down.
As he fell deeper into the pit, he saw her.
“I...
I just wanted to be happy.
I wanted to be loved...
You said you would protect me...
Why am I...
Why... why am I...”
A girl, looking about thirteen or fourteen, stood in a ruined place, her face expressionless as tears fell from her dead eyes.
Her hair was half-dyed black, and her pink eyes shimmered with a reddish hue.
The emptiness in her gaze reminded him so much of that woman.
‘I don’t want to see her cry...’
Suddenly, he thought that.
Was this a dream?
Or perhaps some unconscious vision, or maybe a glimpse of the future?
The Kingdom of Rothis was founded by a golden dragon in the beginning, and it’s said that even now, the royal blood still flows with the golden dragon’s blood.
That’s why, sometimes, some members of the royal family are born with theTime Sightability.
The ability to see things that haven’t happened yet or to peek into events from the past through dreams.
He wasn’t sure if theTime Sighthad awakened in him.
Perhaps it was just a dream caused by the overwhelming exhaustion he felt.
But even so, Roel wanted to go to the girl standing alone in that empty place.
He wanted to comfort the crying girl, to stay by her side and protect her smiling face, if she ever smiled again.
So...
If what he saw was a future that would someday come to pass… Roel wanted to be there for her.
Even if this little child turned out to be a demon.
No one had acknowledged the pain and suffering he’d been through, no matter how much he cried out into the void, but this child, Bunny, had heard him.
Bunny had listened.
“It's okay now.”
She had granted his unfulfilled wish.
If it hadn’t been for Bunny, he surely would’ve died.
There was no doubt about it, unless a miracle occurred.
“Bunny.”
“Uung?”
“Thank you.”
At Roel’s words, Bunny blinked her wide eyes twice and smiled brightly.
Her chubby cheeks stood out, forming a loving, adorable smile.
“Daddy!”
“Bunny, it’s time to go.
It’s getting too late.”
Kiriel entered the room with a tired look on his face.
It seemed like something hadn’t gone well, as he appeared downcast.
His hair, usually neatly combed, was now disheveled.
“Daddy, not shiny.”
Bunny, looking at Kiriel’s disheveled appearance, paused for a moment before smiling softly.
Her comment made him chuckle softly.
His mood lifted a little as he hugged the girl, who smelled like baby sweetness, warming his heart.
‘So this is why people have kids.’
He thought, as he patted Bunny’s back a couple of times.
“Daddy.
Bunny’s going to get married.”
Kiriel froze, his face stiffening at his daughter’s sudden declaration.
“…Married?
To whom?”
“The human boss.”
Bunny pointed at the crown prince, and Roel, who had been talking with the emperor, smiled brightly.
“The human boss is mine.”
“…Our daughter has quite a sense of humor.”
“Huh?”
Kiriel looked at Roel and the emperor.
The emperor was also smiling with a pleasant expression, as if he had already heard the news.
“Enough with the jokes.
Let’s go now.”
Kiriel turned and walked away, ignoring the conversation.
“Oh, little princess.
I forgot to tell you.
As a token of gratitude for saving Roel, I want to give you something.
Is there anything you want?
Anything at all.”
The emperor’s words made Bunny’s eyes widen.
‘The human world!’
Bunny thought it would be good to take something from the human world in advance since she was planning to conquer it as the great demon lord.
“Bunny is...!”
Wait.
If she says “human world” now, it could be dangerous.
If the human boss realizes she’s the future great demon lord, he might try to turn Bunny into powder.
Bunny closed her mouth tightly, then glared at the emperor.
“Human?”
The emperor tilted his head.
Bunny’s eyes spun as she met Kiriel’s gaze, then froze.
‘Bunny, be filial.’
Heh.
Bunny grinned.
“Human... like Mommy, pretty like Mommy!!”
Bunny raised her thumb toward Kiriel and shouted.
Crack.
The air froze instantly.
