# Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Bunny laid out the items she brought with her, then also laid out the necessities Roden had received on her behalf.
These were towels, pajamas, a pillow, a toothbrush, and such.
Bunny took each item with her small hands and organized them.
She neatly placed Toto, the Great Demon King teddy bear, and the elephant next to her bed, then sighed as she wiped nonexistent sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand.
Knock, knock.
At the sound of knocking, Bunny quickly stood up.
"Yes—!"
She went on her tiptoes and jumped up, hanging onto the doorknob and opening the door.
As soon as the door opened, a woman with auburn hair in a maid’s uniform appeared.
She had a stern face, just like Roden Heiner, and bowed as she greeted Bunny.
"Nice to meet you, Miss Bunny.
I’m Jessie, the maid who will be assisting you from today.
Please take care of me."
"Hello, Great Dem—"
Oh no, if they find out that Bunny is destined to be the Great Demon King, she’ll be eaten!
The Duke of Eudia’s house is a dangerous place!
"A four-year-old Bunny who dreams of becoming a great sorcerer!"
Jessie’s cheeks twitched at Bunny’s bold statement.
Jessie, the maid, quickly composed her expression and showed what she was holding.
"Yes.
Here are some necessary documents.
This is the schedule, and Miss Bunny, you will start in the easiest class, Class F.
Depending on your grades, you can move up to Class A."
Bunny blinked at Jessie’s rapid speech.
"You might not be familiar with this, so for the first week, I will guide you to your classroom."
"Okay..."
"This mansion is called the 'House of Trials,' and it is a dormitory school run by the Duke of Eudia to thoroughly educate and select talented individuals."
"Okay..."
Bunny nodded with lifeless eyes.
Seeing Bunny’s expression, clearly not understanding, Jessie knelt down to meet her gaze and spoke again.
"So, just attend your classes during class time every day.
Can you read?"
"Yes!
Bunny is a genius!"
Bunny said, lifting her shoulders proudly.
Seeing Bunny's small smile, Jessie couldn’t help but smile a little too.
"That’s great.
If you can read, you’ll move up quickly.
And soon, there will also be a summoning ceremony.
If you summon a good familiar, your rank will rise quickly."
"A familiar?"
"Yes.
Those who carry the blood of the duke can summon divine beasts or items.
The Duke of Eudia is blessed by the gods."
Creak.
Bunny's head slowly turned with a creaking sound.
'Bunny... doesn't have the blessing of the gods...?!'
Luriel had said so.
The power of the gods and the power of demons are opposites.
If a strong divine power touches a weak demon, the demon’s body will turn to ash and crumble.
'I'm doomed...'
Bunny’s future... ashes?
"What if I don’t have a familiar?"
"Sorry?"
"I mean, what if I don’t have a familiar?"
"There has never been a case where someone couldn’t summon.
Don’t worry.
If you have the duke's blood, it will happen."
Boom, crash!
Thunder and lightning struck around Bunny once more.
Bunny, in big, big trouble...
For the second time already!
Because...
'Bunny... isn't human, after all...?'
Luriel once said.
Demons and humans are completely different.
Seeing Bunny frozen like a statue, Jessie tilted her head slightly and spoke again.
"Then I will come back to get you at mealtime.
You must be very tired, so please rest."
"Okay..."
Click, the door closed, and Jessie left.
Bunny quickly ran and jumped onto the bed.
"Luriel...
Bunny is totally ruined..."
The only word Bunny knew to use when feeling hopeless was that one, so today again, she lamented her total ruin.

"As ordered, I brought Miss Bunny from the orphanage, Your Grace."
Roden Heiner reported, bowing his head.
Scratch, scratch, an elderly man processing a pile of paperwork slowly raised his head.
His eyes were sharply angled upwards, making them appear stern, and his mouth was firmly shut.
His blue eyes were slightly dull as if faded over time, and his hair was a somewhat muted silver.
The man’s posture, with his buttoned-up collar and his unyielding stance, showed his rigid nature.
Although he was elderly, he appeared very fit, especially for someone who supposedly had three grown children.
"Has it not yet been revealed whose child she is?"
"No, we still haven't found out."
"When my partner suddenly said there was a bloodline of the family in some unknown orphanage, I wondered what was going on..."
The elderly man clicked his tongue as if displeased by the expanding family.
He planned not to leave unpunished whoever abandoned a child, unable to take responsibility and leave them at a facility.
The Duke of Eudia was a holy family that inherited the blood of the gods for generations.
If the bloodline was continued, whether it was thick or thin, most could summon a divine creature.
Therefore, they strictly managed the bloodline.
They did not want the blood to spill out carelessly and overflow into the world.
Nevertheless, over time, the number of family members increased, so much so that many in the territory were of the duke's lineage.
Due to the bloodline, even those who wanted to leave the duke’s family had to go through a ritual to cut off the divine blessing.
The sudden expansion of the family, which was initially composed of only a few, was all due to plans initiated several generations ago.
The plan was to create an army made solely of those with the duke's blood and summoned beasts.
The current Duke, Ludvrid Eudia, had thought it was a crazy plan since he was young, but in the end, all he could do was take on the title when it was the most troublesome.
That child alone was already the second defector.
One had a child with a beast-man, and another produced an illegitimate child and abandoned them outside.
As managing the increasing numbers was becoming difficult, he intended to end this "House of Trials" in his generation.
If the children in care did not meet the standard by the age of 20, he planned to cut off the family's blessings through a ritual and instead support their livelihood.
Otherwise, the crazily increasing, and continuously increasing, branch families would be unmanageable.
"The child seems to have been in the orphanage for a long time.
What kind of child was she?"
"...."
At Duke Ludvrid Eudia’s question, Roden Heiner briefly recalled Bunny.
Her chubby cheeks, carrying a bag as big as her own body, waddling around, her bright smile, and her small sausage-like hands.
"She was a cute one."
"...What?"
He had asked about her character or nature, and he was told she was cute.
What was he supposed to make of that?
Ludvrid Eudia looked at him in disbelief, but Roden Heiner did not correct his words.

"Yes, then do your best in your first class, Miss Bunny."
"Yes!
Bunny can read.
Genius Great Demon...!"
King.
... is a secret!
Bunny trailed off and, with a determined expression, cutely carried her rabbit bag on her back and walked into the classroom, taking a seat at the front.
The desk and chair at the very front were particularly small compared to the others.
'Get a perfect score and become a lady of the duke's family!'
Bunny took out her book, placed it on the desk, and set her bag down beside her.
"Now, we will start today’s lesson from page 27 in the textbook.
Who would like to read first?
Please raise your hand."
Hmph.
Bunny snorted at the teacher's words and raised her right hand with her puffed-up pride.
For Bunny, it was a very easy, simple task!
"Oh!
You’re new here...
Ah, Miss Bunny, right?
Then, Miss Bunny, would you please read for us?"
"Yes!"
Bunny stood up and confidently opened her textbook wide.
"...."
And silence fell.
The book was filled with squiggly writing.
Only then did Bunny realize one thing.
"Miss Bunny?"
"...."
Bunny doesn’t understand human language.
"I...
I don’t know..."
Bunny muttered softly with a face on the verge of tears.
All Bunny knew were the excellent demon languages she had studied hard with Luriel since she was young.
