# Chapter 39
Chapter 39
“Levon.”
Levon’s eyes widened as he saw Kiriel come in, carrying two exhausted children who had fallen asleep in the carriage after playing outside all day.
It was unbelievable that a man who normally avoided contact with anyone, rarely leaving the duke’s estate, the temple, or his room, had now willingly spent the whole day outside.
“Yes, Your Excellency.”
Levon took Allen from Kiriel and laid him down on the bed.
Kiriel also laid Bunny down next to him and spoke up.
“I need to find out more about Bunny.”
“About Miss Bunny…?”
“Yeah… I need all the information possible about how she ended up in that orphanage, what kind of person she was, who brought her there, and if possible, everything from when she was born up until she came to the duke’s house…”
Kiriel spoke in his usual languid voice, taking off his coat and handing it to Levon.
“I’ll check into it.”
“Good.
What about the side mansion?”
“Since it’s been left unused for a long time, there’s a lot to do.
We’re remodeling everything inside.
It should be usable by the end of this month.”
As Levon explained, Kiriel nodded and continued to undress.
Levon, glancing at Kiriel taking off his clothes, pulled something from his inner pocket and quietly approached the bed.
Click.
Click.
Click.
When he suddenly heard the sound, he turned his head to see Levon taking pictures of sleeping Bunny from several angles, then capturing a shot of Allen, who was sleeping in the same position.
“What are you doing?”
Kiriel asked, bewildered.
Levon didn’t even look at him as he replied.
“I’m taking pictures.
Kids grow up so fast, and we can only keep photos from this time.”
“Why are you taking them?”
“Because the Young Master won’t take them anyway.
I was thinking about quitting since I wasn’t enjoying work, but now that I have kids, I’m happy.”
Kiriel’s brow furrowed at Levon’s emotionless words.
He clicked his tongue as if finding it absurd.
“They’re my children.”
Levon paused for a moment at the sudden remark and blinked twice.
Then he shrugged and put the camera back in his inner pocket.
“You haven’t obtained custody yet.”
“I’ll go to the imperial palace soon to start the adoption process.”
“Can I go to the imperial palace first and start the adoption process?”
“Do you want to die?”
“No.”
Levon didn’t blink an eye at Kiriel’s chilly voice and silently shrugged.
“Still, you look good.
At first, I thought, what kind of parent would a man like this be, acting so boldly?
But…”
“Levon.
Your tongue is too loose; you really must want to die…”
“Ah, no!
Kya!
Scary~”
Levon spoke in a soprano tone with a blank face, showing no sense of danger or emotion.
Kiriel’s face turned cold.
“Still… I’ve changed my mind a bit.
It seems that meeting someone can change a person.
Miss Bunny choosing the Young Master that day, rather than me, must be some kind of grand fate.”
“You believe in fate?”
“No.
I was just trying to be poetic.”
“……”
Kiriel waved his hand wearily at Levon’s words.
Levon was also one of the cadets of the Udia Duke family.
Like Kiriel, he grew up in the mansion of trials, living together like childhood friends.
While others avoided Kiriel, finding him creepy, unpleasant, and ominous, Levon would always approach him with a blank and emotionless face, shamelessly spilling his thoughts before leaving as if he had said everything.
He was a person who was always true to himself, both then and now.
“Today, I’ll wash up and go to sleep right away, so you can leave.”
“Yes.
Oh, right.
We received an invitation for Miss Bunny from the imperial palace.”
“An invitation?”
“Yes.
They want to express their gratitude.
If she recovers, they hope she will visit… The Crown Prince personally wrote the letter, and the Emperor sent a courier.
What should we do?”
Kiriel squinted his eyes at Levon’s words.
He didn’t want to send her.
There was a high probability that she would get involved in useless matters if she went.
But…
“I’ll ask Bunny.
If she wants to meet, she can; if not, then that’s fine.”
“Oh.”
“Do you have anything to say…?”
Detecting a hint of annoyance in Kiriel’s voice, which was now more drawn out due to fatigue, Levon spoke up.
“I thought you’d say no.
The Young Master doesn’t like getting caught up in storms.”
“Bunny likes thrilling things.”
Kiriel scoffed at Levon’s words.
“And…”
Kiriel slowly lowered his gaze.
“I think parents are guides for their children, not controlling figures.
I’ll let them go where they want.
If it’s dangerous, I’ll protect them and explain, trying to stop them.”
“……”
“I want these kids to do what they want.
Whatever that may be… I want to give them various options from the beginning, not just one choice.”
A strange determination could be felt in his languid voice.
It was a determination Levon hadn’t seen in a long time.
He leisurely walked over, still shirtless, and gently ruffled the hair of the two children.
“You’re a wonderful parent at heart.
I don’t know how long that mindset will last, though.”
“…What?”
“Children don’t just go as they please.
Just as controlling parents have their own circumstances.”
When Kiriel looked at him as if displeased, Levon politely bowed and began to back away.
“I’ll take my leave now.”
“Make sure you investigate what I asked properly.”
“Yes.”
“And give me my photos too.”
Thud.
Without a reply, the door closed.
Kiriel clicked his tongue softly.
The guy he had grown up with was perfect in his work, but the fact that he didn’t fear him at all was a problem.
After washing up, Kiriel lay down on the bed where the children were sleeping.
“The left side is empty!
Don’t mess up the display!
Do you want to die?!”
Klein Udia shouted fiercely.
Inside the dark dungeon, the long corridor stretched on below, its depth unfathomable.
“…Tch, how far does this go?”
They said they had conquered the deepest part of the dungeon, but it was all nonsense.
They just couldn’t find the way.
The imperial troops dispatched for the extermination had merely skimmed the surface and left.
“In other words, how many times do I have to say not to exterminate without us?
Tch.”
The artifacts and relics unearthed from the dungeons conquered by the imperial family were all theirs to keep.
However, if the Udia Duke family got involved, the imperial family would have to split what they obtained in half.
Because of this, the imperial family often dispatched extermination teams to deal with such dungeons by themselves.
But, what kind of place is a dungeon?
Honestly, it was a den of monsters and beasts.
The strongest power against those monsters was divine power, and the holy knights were most often dispatched to such places.
So, most exterminations were conducted in cooperation with the Udia Duke family or solely by them.
‘The imperial family must have something going on, wanting to force this extermination.’
Klein Udia clicked his tongue.
At that moment.
Shine!
The crystal he was holding in his hand sparkled.
It was only after reaching an unknown depth of the dungeon that the crystal finally reacted.
As faint light seeped from the crystal, Klein Udia exhaled heavily, wiping the sweat from his brow with his sleeve and narrowing his eyes.
Ha ha.
Klein let out a small laugh, mixed with joy.
“It seems our little candidate has accomplished something again.”
He gazed at the dimly glowing light from the crystal and muttered softly.
