# Chapter 30
Chapter 30
Beep.
Squeak.
At the tickling sound in her ears, Burnie rolled around on the bed.
Rubbing her eyelids with tiny fists, Burnie yawned and slowly sat up, still groggy.
Squeak!
Barely able to open her eyes, she swayed from side to side on the bed until she carefully opened her blurry eyes at the sound of another squeak.
‘Burnie's room...’
Having returned from the brightly spacious room of Kiriel just a few days ago, Burnie glanced at her reduced living space with droopy eyes and let out a big sigh.
“Burnie will study...”
To rank up and get a much better room.
Squeak!
Just as the sound came again, Burnie turned her head sharply.
Her mouth dropped open as she saw that the large egg, which should have had the black dragon, was shattered into pieces.
“…Huh?
The dragon egg...?”
No dragon egg?!
Shattered?
Did a thief come in at night?!
“Not good!”
Panicked, Burnie jumped down and hurriedly stepped among the remnants of the large broken egg.
Beep!
Hearing a voice from among the shattered shells, Burnie sat on the floor and began to search through the eggshells diligently.
Hug!
From between the shells, something small and fluffy appeared.
“Black…dragon…?”
—No, it’s a bird…?
‘Burnie’s black dragon…’
Not black.
It’s not even on my left arm.
“Did you hatch here?”
“Chirp!”
The loud cry that came from such a small body made Burnie's body go limp and melt away.
Burnie, who flopped down on the floor, pouted her lips.
“It’s not a black dragon…”
It’s bright red.
It looked just like the creature called a sparrow that she had seen before.
But it was red.
The sparrow was white.
Two feather-like bangs stuck up from its head, and its tail, which was as long as Burnie’s palm, was a mix of yellow and red, swaying back and forth.
“King is not big…”
King is tiny.
It was as small as Burnie’s palm.
“Burnie is done for…”
Sigh.
Burnie, feeling defeated, let out a big sigh and clumsily rubbed the bird’s head with her palm.
“Ruri is a big liar…”
It’s not even a black dragon.
Not impressive at all.
Burnie is totally ordinary…
‘What if I color it black?’
By chance, Burnie had a black crayon.
‘No, that would hurt.’
After imagining for a moment, Burnie shook her head and slumped down.
Sniff.
Wiping her nose, Burnie shook her head.
It’s disappointing, but it can’t be helped.
Burnie also has a secret notebook with the strongest, invincible Ruri.
‘Ruri’s notebook gave me new information yesterday.’
She was planning to deliver this along with her allowance to the teacher today.
As Burnie clasped her hands together and held them out, the red sparrow tilted its head and jumped onto her palm.
Ruri’s notebook changes its story every day.
Some days, there’s no change at all; some days, it gives new information; and some days, it shares various stories.
Letting out a sigh, Burnie stretched her little legs, opened the window, and pulled the corners of her blanket to finish tidying up.
‘Today is a day to earn money!’
Ruri said so.
Burnie must become an all-purpose… all-purpose… element that can do anything.
She should never become a useless baby who relies entirely on her guardian.
‘Burnie, small but a big element.’
Heh.
Burnie snickered and shrugged her shoulders.
Today, Burnie was a wonderful child who was paying her way.
‘I memorized 3 letters.’
Out of the 57 letters, she had memorized 3 of them.
If she works hard, she will definitely become a complete genius Burnie who masters human language soon.
“Stay here quietly.”
Chuckling, Burnie placed the bird among her dolls and tossed her clothes onto the floor.
Just then, when Burnie ran and hung onto the bathroom door to open it,
Knock knock.
At the knocking sound, Burnie froze, hanging onto the bathroom doorknob.
“Who is it?”
Is it Jessie?
Or Roden?
Burnie jumped down and began picking up her clothes scattered on the floor one by one.
“Ah, I’m Melissa, a maid who came to assist Miss Burnie today under the orders of Lord Kiriel.
May I have a moment?”
“Yes!
Just a minute!”
Throwing her dress on the floor, she laid down and then stuffed her little head under the hem of her skirt, wriggling like a caterpillar until her head popped out of the hole.
After that, it was simple.
She just had to find the hole and pull her arms out.
“Phew.”
She spotted her panties rolling around on the floor.
Burnie pushed it aside and shoved it under the bed, then hurriedly ran to open the door.
The figure revealed was a pretty girl with blue eyes.
The girl with brown hair smiled brightly at Burnie and knelt down on one knee to meet her gaze.
“Nice to meet you!
I’m Melissa, and I’ll be attending to Miss Burnie from today!”
“Ah, hello.
I’m 4-year-old Burnie.”
“Oh my, what a surprise.
I’m glad I threw a tantrum in front of Lieutenant Rebon.
Well, Lieutenant Reborn almost ended up applying to be a guard instead of this lazy superior’s aide.”
Melissa mimicked cutting her neck with her hand and chuckled.
Burnie tilted her head slightly.
This?
Oh no.
Is someone going to get their head cut off?!
‘Lord… his cold eyes and lack of tears… such a strong father…’
But he is warm to my child.
Suddenly, Burnie's heart, which had been fluttering with the content from Ruri's notebook, sank.
Burnie blinked and then stiffened her lips, shaking her head left and right.
‘No, Burnie is a perfect human now!
No one knows Burnie will become the great demon king.’
So there's no need to worry yet!
“I came a bit later today so I wouldn’t disturb the young lady’s sleep…”
Melissa quickly glanced around the room.
The open window, the messily arranged blanket, the piece of fabric peeking out from under the bed, the dusty floor, the crumpled and dirty clothes, and the slightly opened bathroom door all came into view as Melissa smiled brightly.
“I’ll come a little earlier starting tomorrow!
Were you getting ready to wash up?”
“Whoa... how did you know?
Are you a great sorceress, Melissa?”
“Don’t be silly.
I have no talent for magic at all.”
As she said this, Melissa picked Burnie up and opened her eyes wide.
“…This weight, this texture.
It’s so unfair that only the lord got to feel this.
Shall we wash up first?”
“Burnie can wash by herself.”
“Wow, but now that you’re a young lady, I’ll help you.”
Young lady!
Burnie’s eyes sparkled.
It was clear she had finally reached the position of a duke’s young lady.
“What about the lord?”
Burnie should tell them that a red bird hatched from the black dragon's egg.
‘…But what if they’re disappointed?’
Everyone must firmly believe it’s a black dragon since Burnie has been talking about it so much...
‘If they’re disappointed, I won’t like it…’
Burnie raised her hand and rubbed under her nose.
There’s no helping it.
‘…I’ll keep it completely hidden.’
Or it might be good to figure out how to paint that red fur black.
Then she could trick them into thinking it’s a black dragon.
“The lord should be in the room, right?
For some reason, he’s not in the temple… Oh, he’s not here.”
Melissa smiled kindly and gently stroked Burnie’s hair.
“What about the duke?”
“The duke went to meet His Majesty the Emperor today.”
“The Imperial City!
Where the big human boss is!”
“Oh yes, that’s where His Majesty is!”
The great enemy of Burnie, who has become a big demon king!
Burnie must defeat him with her water magic.
“Now, shall we go in here and try raising our hands?”
“Yes!”
Raising her arms high, Burnie squeezed her eyes shut.
“Okay, the water is falling~”
She must first do the bubbling before defeating her enemy.
