# Chapter 16
Chapter 16
“…What?”
“Bunny will become a great sorcerer... yeah, I'm sure of it.
Not scary at all.
When the Dark Dragon is born, it will be a great sorcerer too.”
Bunny trailed off, placing the hand that wasn’t holding Allen’s on her waist, and snorted confidently.
At her confident words, Allen couldn't help but relax his stiff face and burst into laughter.
“What’s a sorcerer?”
Hahaha!!
The boy let out a big laugh that echoed through the place.
Bunny pouted her lips in response to the loud laughter.
“Why are you pouting?
Silly Bunny.”
“Bunny's not silly.
Allen is the fool.”
Bunny squinted her eyes, turned sharply, and walked ahead with big steps.
Allen watched Bunny, who wasn’t intimidated by the large mansion or the guards in scary uniforms, and quickly followed behind her.
“Aren’t you scared of going to such a big place?”
Allen asked as he grabbed Bunny’s hand again.
“Nope.”
“Why not?”
At Allen’s question, Bunny chuckled.
Bunny wasn’t afraid of anything because she was a strong demon child who wouldn’t turn to dust even under the white light.
“Bunny is cute and super strong.”
Bunny gave a thumbs-up and shrugged her shoulders.
‘And although it’s a secret to everyone...’
Bunny could actually use magic.
‘Bunny can shoot water bang bang.’
The guards hesitated when they saw Bunny but then frowned when they noticed Allen following behind her.
Despite that, Bunny held Allen’s hand and bowed deeply to greet them.
“Hello!
Bunny came to see the young master.”
The guards widened their eyes at Bunny’s polite bow.
They hesitated for a moment, then spoke.
“Oh, I see.
We’re not sure if Lord Kiriel is here…”
“He’s here.
He’s been in the mansion ever since the summoning ritual.”
Everyone knew that Bunny and Allen were Kiriel Yudia’s wards.
It was a major event when Kiriel Yudia declared he would be the guardian of two children from a branch family.
“Then we’ll guide you to Lord Kiriel’s room.”
“Yes, please!”
Following the soldier inside, Bunny walked confidently while Allen hesitated behind with his head hung low.
He couldn’t lift his head, fearing everyone would point at him if he did.
‘She’s lucky she doesn’t know anything.’
Allen thought gloomily as he looked at Bunny, who was free of any dark thoughts.
Bunny surely wasn’t a child who was welcomed by everyone either.
Allen had overheard kids in class whispering about Bunny too, calling her an illegitimate child who didn’t even know her parents.
They said Bunny and Allen shamelessly took their spots.
Allen still thought it was a cruel joke that Kiriel Yudia had decided to be their guardian.
Because since declaring it, Kiriel hadn’t contacted them once.
Other guardians would send personal maids or at least gifts or money to help out, but Kiriel Yudia did none of that.
So it had to be some sort of cruel adult game to mock them.
‘Even if not me, this kid needs more help...’
Bunny probably hadn’t even thought about such nasty intentions from adults.
Only Allen understood.
Thinking that made Allen’s resolve harden a little.
‘I’m the only one who can protect her.’
What if they go there and get laughed at?
Bunny would surely be greatly disappointed and cry.
If that happened, Allen would have to comfort her and take her away.
“Wow, what’s that?”
“It’s a vase.”
“Wow, it’s huge!
What’s that?”
“It’s a phoenix, a divine beast that the first Duke of Yudia summoned.
It’s also the symbol of the Yudia family.”
“Phoenix!!”
Bunny’s eyes sparkled as she looked at the crystal sculpture.
She imagined herself riding on top of the giant phoenix and looking cool.
‘Ah.’
Bunny quickly shook her head from side to side.
‘Bunny has the Dark Dragon!’
Hehe.
She had put it in her pocket to keep it warm, so it would hatch soon.
“Arrived.”
“Wow……”
Bunny, standing in front of the grand door, gaped.
‘Bunny... a little bean.’
She was infinitely smaller compared to the door.
* * *
Knock knock.
“Lord Kiriel, Miss Bunny is here.”
As the soldier knocked and spoke cautiously, a clattering noise from inside was heard.
Bunny and Allen looked at each other, puzzled.
“Lord Kiriel?”
Mmm.
“Tell the kids to wait a moment and you can go.”
With a low groan and slowly trailing off, the words from inside made the soldier hesitate and then slowly nod.
“Yes, understood.”
The soldier turned to Bunny and spoke.
“Miss, please wait here for a moment.”
“Yes.”
“Well, it was an honor to escort you.”
The soldier didn’t acknowledge Allen, only gave a brief nod to Bunny, and then turned to retrace his steps.
Allen’s head drooped lower, feeling the unpleasant glare.
As Allen’s face grew darker, the door clicked open.
“You’re here...?”
“Yes, hello!”
Bunny bowed deeply.
Today, the child whose waist was bent in half lifted her head slightly and glanced at Allen.
Seeing Allen standing straight, Bunny’s eyes widened.
Bunny poked Allen in the side and winked.
It seemed she tried to wink, but her eyes were tightly shut instead.
Allen, taken aback by Bunny’s repeated winking, heard her mutter “greet!” and then straightened his body and awkwardly bowed with a sullen face.
“Hello.”
As Allen greeted her, Bunny smiled happily and stood on tiptoe to pat Allen’s head.
‘Praise for good work!’
That’s what Luriel said so that Bunny would do well next time.
Seeing Bunny’s pleased smile, Allen’s face turned red.
Unable to be angry, Allen quickly turned his head.
“You both came together.
I thought only one soldier reported it…”
Kiriel Yudia’s red eyes narrowed as he muttered softly.
Bunny, with wide eyes, nodded.
“Yes!
I pretended not to know Allen all the way here.
What a surprise.”
Allen’s face reddened with shame at Bunny’s words.
He hadn’t expected her to notice.
“Really?”
Kiriel Yudia, crouching in front of Bunny, asked.
“Yes!”
“How did you pretend not to know?”
“Um...
Just greeted only Bunny and, um… and, yeah.
Pretending not to know Allen.
Kept glaring.
And, um, like that.”
Bunny, not used to human language and lacking vocabulary, ended her rough explanation.
“Hey!
What are you even saying...?”
Allen hurriedly covered Bunny’s mouth.
Of course, Bunny had already tried hard to explain what had happened during the whole trip.
That’s because Luriel said adults should handle adult matters.
The reason for having adults beside children is so that children can ask for help from adults when they encounter things they can’t handle, Luriel had said.
And……
‘Bunny, overcome the tough knight.’
Bunny was a mature child who could quickly grasp situations.
And Bunny had found an adult who could solve her problems.
“Ah...
I see.
I guess Dad will have to scold you.”
“Yes?”
“Huh?”
Both Bunny and Allen looked simultaneously astonished at Kiriel Yudia’s lethargic words.
Dad.
The word made both of them take a deep breath.
“I said I would be your guardian.
Or did you only need my name?”
