# Chapter 13
Chapter 13
Swoosh.
Bunny ripped open the elephant's belly, spilling everything inside onto the floor, and counted them one by one, stacking them into a tower.
She crossed her short arms with a serious expression.
"This is bad."
Two days ago, because she was introduced as an impressive Bunny and given too much money, the elephant’s belly had deflated.
Sigh.
Bunny let out a deep sigh and jumped up from her spot.
'No other choice.'
Sniff.
Bunny wiped her nose, then poured the large pile of money from the elephant’s belly into her bag, slung the jingling rabbit bag over her shoulder, and stood up.
“Little one, little one.
This is Luriel, and I’ll teach you an amazing secret.
Since you can follow along just by watching, make sure to remember this and use it when you need it.”
If you don’t have money, you just need to earn it.
To do that, first, you need to buy materials.
Hmm.
Bunny, is the great child who can go shopping all by herself.
It’s not a bother.
Surely the lord would be proud of Bunny.
Feeling proud, Bunny was just about to leave her room when—
“Miss Bunny!”
“Huh?
Jessie!”
“Yes.
Are you heading out now?”
“Uh-huh.”
Bunny nodded her head.
‘How did Jessie know I was going to the market right now?’
Gasp, could Jessie be a genius too?!
“I heard you didn’t attend the class, so I came to fetch you.
I’m glad to see you’re not sick.
The class has already started.
This way.”
“Wha…?”
“Excuse me.”
Jessie gently lifted Bunny into her arms.
Jingle, jingle.
Jingle, jingle.
As Bunny moved in Jessie’s arms, the sound of coins clinking together rang clearly.
“How did you end up being late today, Miss?”
“Oh…”
I completely forgot about the class.
“I… I was thinking about the future?”
Bunny, who had planned to go to the market to buy materials for the elephant’s bulging pouch, said.
‘Money is a future concern too.’
Bunny didn’t lie.
Bunny, resting her chin on Jessie’s shoulder, rolled her eyes in thought.
“Don’t worry too much.
From what I can see, once you get the hang of reading, you’ll move up the ranks quickly.”
“…Uh-huh.”
Bunny is a genius already.
She had memorized all the demonic language!
‘Human language is hard…’
Bunny, thinking this, was carried off to class by Jessie.
As expected, Bunny still couldn’t recognize a single letter.
* * *
“So, is it true?”
Despite the firm question from Duke Ludvrid Yudia, the elderly man kept his gentle expression and nodded.
“Yes.
According to the report from yesterday, an unknown plague broke out in the Rubia territory on May 18.
The local authorities tried to quietly handle it, but neither the doctors nor researchers could figure out the cause.”
“…Could that quail egg really have some sort of prophetic power?”
Ludvrid Yudia squinted as he recalled the insignificant white quail egg.
“What do you think, Kiriel?”
“…I don’t know.”
Kiriel Yudia, answering slowly and indifferently, seemed more focused on fiddling with the jingling coin pouch in his hand.
Ludvrid Yudia let out a long sigh.
“Just in case, tell everyone to keep quiet about this, and send some people to check on it.
Take the sap with them.”
“Yes.”
The man in a tailcoat bowed and slowly left the office after hearing Ludvrid Yudia’s order.
“So, why did you call me…?”
Kiriel Yudia asked in his slow, lazy voice.
“Why do you think!
How long has it been since the sacred ceremony ended, and what the hell have you been doing?!”
"Didn't Father keep asking to see his grandchildren?
One son, one daughter, it's perfect..."
Kiriel Yudia responded lazily with a tired expression and let out a small yawn.
At this, Ludvrid Yudia's face twisted as if he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
"What on earth were you thinking, taking in children whose origins you don’t even know?!"
"Wasn’t it you who told me to raise something responsibly?"
"I said to raise animals, not children!
How many times have you been found nearly starving because you forget to feed yourself, and now you're raising kids?!"
Kiriel Yudia slowly stood up from his seat, frowning.
His movements were so leisurely that it would frustrate anyone with a short temper.
But that slowness didn’t make him seem sluggish; rather, it gave Kiriel Yudia a more dignified and calm air.
"Anyway, if you don’t have anything else to say, I’ll be going..."
"You’re not seriously thinking of adopting those kids, are you?
Just be their guardian, and that’s it."
Kiriel Yudia gave a small laugh at Ludvrid Yudia’s words.
"The more you tell me not to do it, the more I want to..."
Kiriel Yudia muttered quietly and, despite the noisy voices behind him, indifferently left the sitting room.
‘So tiring, so sleepy...’
That’s what Kiriel Yudia thought as he slowly walked away.
Even Kiriel himself didn’t believe he would make a good parent.
Just like the Duke said, he was someone who found even the simplest things troublesome, and skipping meals was a daily habit.
"Well, thanks again.
I’ll come back next time!
Take care!"
Not that the kids seemed to really need parents anyway.
Though he had no real intention of becoming a proper parent, if they needed someone as a guardian, he was willing to lend his name for that.
‘What does a guardian even do...?’
Kiriel Yudia lazily thought as he entered the temple he used as his personal room and collapsed onto the bed.
‘Maybe I’ll think about it when I wake up...’
He slowly closed his eyes.
At this point, Kiriel Yudia didn’t yet know that a curious four-year-old child was far more revolutionary than he expected and that he would be constantly summoned because of it.
* * *
"Pfft...
I don't know a single letter..."
Sniff.
Bunny, looking like she was about to cry, muttered softly, burying her face in her pillow.
There was no one as young as Bunny, and all the other children in class could read.
Bunny was the only one who couldn’t.
When Bunny finally worked up the courage to ask the child sitting next to her, they said they had learned to read from their mom, dad, or a tutor when they were little.
After entering her room and putting down her homework and books, Bunny grabbed her stuffed bear and slung her jingling rabbit bag, full of coins, over her shoulder.
Then she hopped off the bed and started walking.
Bunny had a very wicked plan—a devilish plan to take over the orphanage!
According to Luriel, with this plan, at least Bunny wouldn’t starve anywhere.
Bunny had always watched Luriel make this, and she planned to use the same method this time.
The kind orphanage director gave each child five copper coins once a week as pocket money, just enough to buy a small bun from the bakery.
Hehe.
‘Bunny always saved it up to buy chocolate.’
With this plan, Bunny had become rich enough to buy chocolate, which cost thirty copper coins, once a month.
‘Bunny, everyone loves you.’
Bunny planned to trap everyone in the Duke’s household just like she did at the orphanage.
The tiny Bunny skillfully slipped through the busy people carrying loads of fabric, her bag jingling rhythmically with each step.
