The principality of Bertino
–
‘You are lying without a smile on your face.’
She pretended to be polite, but Killian's mouth, who had already seen that look, lifted sharply.
“Really?
I'm glad you think that way about your master.
Then I will accept your grateful will.
Read these documents out loud until we arrive.”
Juliet frowned immediately.
‘Who do I feel sorry for?!’
Five minutes ago, he stoned her and she reluctantly accepted the stack of documents the Prince handed her.
“Read from the first page.”
Looking at the heavy papers, Julieta sighed and began to read them…
* * * * *
“…So the jewelers in Austern are now saturated, and I don't think the new jewelry business you're starting is very good.
If you are going to open a jewelry business, I think you should focus on getting attention by discriminating against existing jewelers.”
"Stop."
Juliet, who had been reading for a long time with a sore throat, stopped reading on the Prince's sudden order.
From the looks of it, he was thinking intensely about something without saying a word.
After a long while, she gently put the papers down.
The Prince's order was given to her, as she held her breath in the hope that he would remain lost in thought, and her eyes closed slightly.
“Stop the carriage and call Albert.”
It was a rare serious and calm order.
Juliet knocked on the driver's seat to stop the carriage and then ran back to the carriage that was following her.
“Your Highness, did you call me?”
Albert ran to the carriage Killian was sitting in.
He thought that Juliet might have offended the prince.
He climbed into the carriage with his heart racing, praying that Mrs.
Auguste quickly found a new maid.
“Albert, we are going to stop at a town with a big jeweler before we get to Ricaren.
Adam seems very skeptical about the jewelry business.
But since my sense is telling me not to give up on the deal, I have to find a way.”
She nodded silently, looking at the letters neatly packaged in the papers she had read.
‘Yes, you can get stressed if you work so much.
I can understand your bad personality.
You belong to the top 1% of the royal family and you can spend your entire life playing as you were raised and so revered.
Yes, I'll have to put up with this.
I know your bad personality comes because you are distinguished.'
Juliet calmed her mind after spying on her employer, who was as brilliant as a prince in a fairy tale, with his appearance and skill.
After discussing how to change the route to Ricaren, when Albert returned to his carriage, the Prince closed his eyes and leaned his head against the back of the chair.
Looking tired, Julieta offered to work for him for the first time since she started working.
“Your Highness, would you like a cup of tea?”
Killian's eyes narrowed when the maid, who used to secretly stare and grumble whenever she was given orders, suddenly showed kindness.
"What are you up to?"
Juliet shrugged, feeling a strange homogeneity with the prince, who was as doubtful as she was.
“I think it’s time for you to drink.”
Killian smiled, feeling strangely comfortable with Juliet's monotonous way of saying no if he didn't like it.
“Yes, it's time for a drink.
It’s also time for a massage.”
‘This is why snakes shouldn’t be caught.’
She gave a kindness with a warm heart, but the unpleasant Prince asked for a massage too, and she took out a glass bottle, looking at it unknowingly.
“Wow!”
The moment she took out the precious glass bottle, the carriage suddenly began to tilt with a rumble, as if it had hit something.
Juliet was more frightened by the glass bottle that came out of her hand and fell to the floor of the inclined carriage.
It was all too late when she regained her senses, throwing her whole body to protect the glass bottle.
The problem was that Killian had to catch Juliet, who was standing dangerously in a tilted carriage.
In an instant, the maid fell on the noble Prince. The most serious thing is that the Prince's hands, which were about to receive her fall, grabbed her back.
The wire, which was fixed to be round, was crushed and her slender waist was trapped in his hands.
“What the hell is going on here?”
The wagon wheel was missing and out of place.
Killian's hands gripped tighter to stop her from moving as Juliet, bewildered, struggled to get up from the prince lying beneath her.
“…” No matter how brave Juliet was, there was nothing to say in this situation.
“I didn’t hire a maid, but a swindler?”
As the terribly cold prince spoke, she thought that her life could end today.
Killian's heartless hand came to her face, with no change in expression, though he must have felt her trembling.
“What the hell is going on here?”
“Are these glasses fake too?
Who the hell are you?”
As soon as Killian took off his glasses, the carriage that had fallen on its side with a clatter began to rise.
Juliet was able to quickly escape from the Prince's hands with the reaction, and retreated to the corner and began to roll her head.
Unlike the noise outside, there was only a heavy silence inside the carriage.
Juliet's mouth froze when she saw the Prince's fierce gaze.
Finally, when the carriage straightened, Killian grabbed Juliet's struggling arm and pulled her back in front of him.
A cold order erupted from Killian's mouth as the captain of the knights, concerned for the Prince's safety, tried to open the carriage door.
“Don’t open the door.
I want you to pack up the group and leave.
I’ll ask you later about today’s accident.”
The confusing atmosphere quickly quieted down and the carriage began moving again soon after the Prince's furious order.
Killian looked at Juliet with sharp eyes, sitting on the floor, and he began to feel her entire body with his fearless touch.
When the Prince's hands moved from her cotton shoulders to her chest, across her arms, waist and legs, Juliet fumed at his hands, feeling very embarrassed.
Then she thought: if I'm going to die anyway, why should I be so embarrassed for this man?
Killian silently looked at Juliet, after removing his hands, as if she hadn't trembled with fear, and sat back after a long time.
“Who sent you?”
Juliet agonized for a moment at the prince's dark question.
She had nothing to say because she was under no one's command, but if he found out that she had spilled wine on him, it could be adding fuel to the fire.
However, she raised her head, pretending to be calm, thinking that the more anxious she was, the more suspicious the Prince would be.
“No one sent me!
I came alone.
I needed a job and I was just a cleaning lady on the recommendation of Duke Rhodius.
If you are in doubt, ask Marquis Rhodius.”
Juliet's way of speaking to the prince had been cheeky for a servant, but neither of them were aware of when it began.
“A cleaning lady?
How did a cleaning lady end up working as my maid?
And what the hell happened to that dress?
You have to be honest and not think about lying.”
Killian calmed down when he saw the maid raising her head proudly, as if she had done nothing wrong.
In fact, it seemed very strange to say that she was a spy.
It was ridiculous that Albert wouldn't do a background check on anyone who was going to work as his own maid.
However, he deliberately gave her a sterner look as he thought that he couldn't figure out why she was wearing such a strange disguise.
